When I first of heard Kingdom Hearts it was in a magazine that a friend bought downtown of highschool. When I looked on the pictures I saw Hades and Cloud hanging together in a dark place. First thing that came to mind was that it was some kind of creepy Mickey Mouse tree house where there is nothing but a lame storyline, and everything is happy and lovable with no killing. Was I wrong. In December around Christmas my favorite gaming cousin visited her moms house. Her mom was my aunt and she at the time lived across the street from us. I ran over there to show her Final Fantasy X because she was a big fan of Final Fantasy games. But when I got over there she was playing Kingdom Hearts that she rented from a store.
I sat there and asked her various questions like characters, storyline, and who's in it. Final Fantasy 7 and 8 were the only ones Kandace never played, she got to finishing the first mission in 8 and never touched 7. So she didn't know half of the characters.
As I sat there and watched Kandace was having troubles with some of the puzzles (I remember one being the one to open Merlin's Door.) After she left to get something to drink I quickly figure out the control system and solved the puzzle. When she came back I smiled and said "Solved it" after that she allowed me to have a fair share of playing the game. It was really fun and when I had to go home I begged Kandace if I could take it with me she said "Hell no get your own copy." I left wanting more. I couple of months later when I saved up enough money (Didn't have a job) I bought Kingdom Hearts and defeated it. I went to school bragging to my best gaming partner Brandon about my victory. Just for Doug to step in saying "Did you get the secret ending" I stopped and stared at him. "What ending?" He then explained there is a secret ending if you collect all the Dalmatians and seal all the worlds including Mount Olympus and Winnie the Pooh. And once again I started over from scratch to defeat and get the secret ending. And I loved it. It was a sneak peak of upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.
I waited patiently for Kingdom Hearts 2 only to get Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories to come out. I played it just to find how disappointing it was it felt like playing the first one all over again accept with a card system that can be hard as hell to play if you have bad cards. The only thing I liked about it is the cloaked men like Axel and Riku's story I got after defeating the game.
But it paid off playing that game seeing how Kingdom Hearts 2 took place a year after the advents in Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. So I understood what was going on unlike Brandon who gave up Chain of Memories after Neverlands world. I found the battle system a little harder at first to use compared to the first one, and I didn't understand this whole Roxas guy. But at the end of everything it all came together and I went bug eyed when fighting Xigbar who is my favorite Organization XIII member. Everything fell into place at the very end. I went over to Brandons house to brag about my awesome victory turns out Brandon also finished the game. We were talking about it when he said "Did you get the secret ending?" I paused. "Not again!" I thought froze in pain. Turns out you had to get 100% in the game to get the secret ending. I cried. I didn't get 100% in Final Fantasy X-2 I wont be able to get it now. Brandon sighed knowing this and showed me the secret ending. It was awesome but I really don't understand what is going on.
Hopefully the upcoming games will explain more about the whole storyline of Organization XIII, The Keyblade, The Worlds, Heartless, Nobodies, Roxas and Namine, and the words that Xigbar left Sora with.
Spoilers Don't watch if you haven't defeated Kingdom Hearts II.
Final Mix. My only hatred towards this game is that these never came here.
