The Spencer Mansion

There is over a dozen games of the Resident Evil series, including three movies made by that bastard Uwe Boll. But I can't help but love the Resident Evil series, even though Resident Evil 4 took a turn into a regular action-shooting game, instead of a survival horror. Making a mass of fandom from both Resident Evil fans and action-shooter fans, who never played a Resident Evil game in their life.

For people who aren't familiar with the story of Resident Evil, and I doubt that isn't even possible anymore. Resident Evil is based around a science outbreak that is caused in two locations (depending on what story you go on.) Either in a train from Resident Evil 0, of an old man who thought it would be fun to make some chaos happen. Or in the original setting for the Playstation 1, Spencer Mansion.

But for now I will talk about the original before I talk about the remakes. In Resident Evil for Playstation, you are given a choice between playing as Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine. Depending how who you choose will help determine one of the many endings you can accomplish. In order to get the true ending, you have to go with Chris Redfield.

The original opening for Resident Evil is made up of corny actors and actresses. The group are known as S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Squad.) They consist of Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Albert Wesker, Brad Vickers, and Joseph who is the first to go. I can't help but laugh at the poor acting as Joseph is getting attacked by a zombie dog. And Jill yells out his name with the biggest smile on her face.

Despite the poor acting of these actors at the opening, the game itself was pretty scary for 1998. The only problem that I really hated about this game, was tank movement. It's the biggest problem that is faced with a lot of the Resident Evil games. But excusing the control issues it can be a very good game. Unlocking the truth behind the mansion, and fighting hordes of zombies, spiders, dogs, and gross mutant things.

I find it funny, how in one of the endings, Jill discovers Chris in a cell. He is stuck there and cannot get out, the only way to free him is to grab a key that is found further ahead. At the end, you can actually choose not to free Chris and leave for the helicopter alone as he stays in the cell waiting for you. I really laughed when it actually showed the helicopter flying away from the mansion. The idea that Chris is still in there waiting, put me into a laughter.
Yes as a cruel sense of humor I have, it is possiable to leave alone, doing so will reveal a cut scene as Jill takes off her berrat. As a large mound of hair falls down. Of coarse in any other version of Resident Evil series, Jill has short brown hair.

The Resident Evil game spawned several remakes, including the one for the Gamecube, Resident Evil Deadly Silence for DS, and Resident Evil Director's Cut for Playstation 1. The only difference from the original I noticed was the dualshock vibration. As well as more sequels and a prequel then I can shake a stick at.
